| Parent Requirements: Only married couples accepted. (Infertile couples and small families are preferred - please consult with MAPS regarding family composition.) No more than 45 years between younger parent and child; some flexibility for older children. Both adoptive parents must be US citizens. Clear medical and psychological health record and clear criminal background are required; please consult with us if you have any questions about your eligibility. |
| Children: Usually 8 months+, of Asian, Eurasian, and some Caucasian ethnicity. (Families must be open to adopting a child of any ethnicity.) Sibling groups are rare. Children may have minor correctable health issues / orphanage delay with potential for normal life in a family. |
| Waiting Time: Invitation to travel approx. 6-12 months after dossier submission (for infants of either gender). No detailed child information is provided prior to travel. Complete information is received while in country. |
| Travel: Both parents must travel, but one parent may return early. Choice of 1 trip of approximately 8-11 weeks or multiple trips - first trip approx. 4-6 weeks, Second trip is approximately 3-4 weeks later lasting 5-7 days. Possibility of escort for final trip. Travel expenses: $12,000-$15,000 plus child's ticket and visa. |
