Domestic Infant AdoptionDomestic Adoption

Domestic adoption can be ideal for families who want to adopt a newborn baby here in the US. Our goals are to help families grow through adoption, to find loving homes for babies, and to support and honor pregnant women and their partners who choose adoption in the face of an unplanned pregnancy.

If you are interested in adopting domestically, we will work with you every step of the way, from the home study process to creating a family profile to bringing your new baby home.

We have over thirty years experience providing ethical, caring, personalized domestic adoption services. We are committed to high standards of service and to supporting all parties involved. Most of all, we will rejoice with you as your family grows through adoption when you welcome a new baby into your home.

MAPS Domestic Program

We work closely and compassionately with birthparents in Maine or Massachusetts (and occasionally in other states) who have decided to make an adoption plan. We provide services and support to these birthparents throughout the process. In making the decision to proceed with adoption, they are seeking families who are waiting to love and cherish a baby. MAPS will work with you and the birthparent(s) to create an adoption plan sensitive to and respectful of everyone involved.

Our MAPS Domestic Program is currently seeking families open to a baby of any race or ethnic background. We are especially in need of families open to birthparent history of mental illness and/or drug or alcohol use and those interested in adopting a minority child.

Occasionally, MAPS works with birthmothers outside of Maine and Massachusetts who are seeking families hoping to adopt minority babies. In these cases, MAPS provides comprehensive case management to ensure birthparent services in the home state, including the option of counseling as well as necessary legal counsel. This scenario is ideal for families who are open to and comfortable with out-of-state travel.

MAPS MAY ALSO ASSIST YOU IN YOUR IDENTIFIED OR PRIVATE ADOPTION PROCESS

Identified Adoption

You may identify a birthmother on your own and then complete your adoption through MAPS. You benefit from the expertise of our staff, and the birthparents receive the counseling services that are so crucial to their well-being and a successful placement. We will also be there to support you, the adoptive parents, throughout the process. If you complete your adoption through an attorney, MAPS can provide you with adoption education classes, home study, and post-placement services.

Private Adoption

If you are adopting through an attorney, MAPS can conduct your home study and provide adoption education classes. We will also provide post-placement supervision, which is required by the court to finalize your adoption.
